If you do follow your bliss… you begin to meet people who are in the field of your bliss, and they open the doors to you. – Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth Ep. 4 .
When Artnerd Society was first designed we had two primary goals. The first was to empower fellow creatives through sharing valuable resources and knowledge, the second was to provide meaningful connection and a sense of community among creative people who could help one another no matter how far along they are on their professional paths.
Almost one year after going live our community has grown to 120 fantastic and fascinating members from all over the world and at all different places within their creative and professional life. In a previous email, I wrote about how the community seemed like a very large party where everyone had sensory deprivation helmets on. Some people were in the corner dancing to music they couldn’t actually hear. One member was speaking to what they thought were other guests but was actually a lamp. Another member was swinging wildly at a pinata shaped like a Jeff Koons sculpture that didn’t exist. I was in the corner giving a sock puppet show about the universal value of creativity. A few members were brave enough to take off the helmets and introduce themselves but as I came to realize slowly, a forum based on 1998 technology behind a walled member site probably isn’t the most effective way to provide a connection between members.
Announcing the launch of the Artnerd Network.
In order to try and remedy this and to improve the usefulness of Artnerd Society for our members, we are incredibly excited to announce that we are replacing the Conversations/Forum section of the Artnerd Society website with the Artnerd Network. The Artnerd Network uses the powerful “Mighty Networks” platform and will make it incredibly easy for you to take off the sensory deprivation helmet and enjoy the party. Imagine taking Facebook, Instagram, and Linked-in, putting them into a blender, turning that blender on Puree, pouring the mix through a filter that eliminates the advertising, spam, and posts from your great aunt Frieda who just discovered Breitbart News. What is left is genuine, authentic, useful connection between creative people in a virtual community. Add a little bit of community management and resource sharing and you have the Artnerd Network.
The Artnerd Network allows you to:
Create Posts, Articles, Polls and Questions for the community
Follow Articles, Topics, and other members
Directly message other members
Share images and resources
Use the Mighty Network Mobile App for easy access to the Artnerd Network or any other Mighty Network.
Member posts and articles are divided into four sections
Introduce yourself, discuss things that aren’t covered in other topics…
Any and all discussions or questions about education, resource sharing, and creative development.
Have a resource suggestion? Seen an amazing show lately? Read a life-changing book? Want resource suggestions? Let the community know.
Creative Career Development and Entrepreneurship
Starting your own business? Trying to develop your freelance career? Applying for a day job? Share your questions, opportunities, and advice with one another.
Working on something and stuck? Interested in creative or technical input? Share your work and ideas with fellow members for feedback and advice.
I am looking forward to the Artnerd Society community developing in a more connected, useful and meaningful direction. I would be honored for you to be a part of it through the Artnerd Network.
